Brief Branch History

The Ellijay Branch was established on 9 Aug 1979 as part of the Chattanooga Stake. The meetinghouse was originally built in a smaller form in 1990. Subsequent remodeling and additions have brought it to its current structure. In the late 1990's the unit was realigned as part of the Marietta East stake. For a time (the early 2000's) the branch met in Pickens County high school while remodeling was taking place. The southern boundary adjacent to Canton Ward was adjusted a couple times until its current line at the Cherokee/Pickens county line. The northern boundary has always reached the Tennessee/North Carolina border.

At the January 14, 2024 annual Branch Conference, Ellijay Branch became the Ellijay Ward

Meet Our Current Leadership

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints functions in large measure because of the unpaid volunteer ministry of its members. In fact, this lay ministry is one of the Church’s most defining characteristics. Leadership in the Church is not sought after or campaigned for.
